Ludwig Leichhardt was particularly honored by the fact that he was given numerous geographical locations / regions
as well as animals and plants

Among them are among other:

A mountain range. The Leichhardt Range
A district in the inner west of Syndey
A district in Brisbane
A waterfall and several rivers and farms
In addition, many roads and shops bear their name, especially in East Australia.
In Trebatsch, there is a Ludwig-Leichhardt-Museum, opened on the occasion of the 175th birthday of Ludwig Leichardt.
The Leichhardt hiking and cycling trail (11 km) leads past its birthplace. A Leichhardt shelter with barbecue and fire station invites walkers at the Great Mochowsee (Goyatz).
In memory to Leichhardt’s schooldays the schools in Tauche and Goyatz was named after him into Ludwig Leichhardt Schools and as a Ludwig-Leichhardt-Gymnasium in Cottbus. At the campus of the BTU Cottbus the Leichhardt-house was inaugurated on 4th November 1999.
